Landscapes

Jimmy Carr

Lucy follows in the tradition of romantic British landscape painters in her emotional response to nature. She is particularly inspired by the tension between the figurative and the abstract and often uses extreme light effects to explore this. Through focusing on the flow of light and shade – especially the evocative ambiguity at the edge of shadows – she takes us towards the essence of what we see and how natural forms make us feel.

Lucy’s passion for oil paint reveals itself in the variety and richness of her canvases; she paints in all weathers – in fields and on cliff tops – distilling what she sees into a visual language dominated by strong brush strokes and heightened colour.
